Introduction

Politics is a set of actions over which an individual or group takes power to govern or develop a particular cause.

Usually, an individual who aims to take power to govern institutions such as parliament, government, local government, justice institutions, etc., competing with ideas and gaining the support of the majority is referred to as a politician.

Gender equality in participation in political and social life, in political representation and decision-making, has not always been guaranteed. Thus, in patriarchal societies, political power belonged only to men, while women did not even have the right to vote. Only in 1920 did women in the United States gain the right to vote. This event has influenced the beginnings of the representation of all genders in decision-making, where these efforts for equal power still continue throughout the world.

As a modern constitution, the Constitution of Kosovo guarantees the equality of all citizens before law, as well as equal rights to vote and to be voted for all citizens regardless of gender, ethnicity or religion. In order to encourage increased participation in institutions elected for underrepresented groups and in the spirit of the Constitution, the election law stipulates that at least 30% of the Kosovo Assembly and municipal assemblies must be women. Similarly, in the Kosovo Assembly and in municipal assemblies, some seats are reserved for non-majority communities, in order to encourage inclusion and equality in decision-making institutions in the country.

In Kosovo, positive quotas or reserved seats that are guaranteed to underrepresented communities are as a result of the attention and small investments that political parties do in the promotion of women, for example.

However, although with less funding and support within political parties, women have proved that they can manage to be representative of citizens and perform tasks with high responsibility.

While successes to push the cause forward, starting with the political party and continuing to the highest representative institutions, can be achieved by having clarity of principles, causes, means available for communication and persuasion of the masses to follow you.
