The Road to Gender Equality

The purpose of this module is to acquaint participants with the process of gender equality historically, women's rights movements and the history of feminism characterized in its four waves.


The course takes roughly 10 minutes to complete, although it does not need to be done in one session or sequentially.

Introduction

All people are equal and as such should enjoy equal rights regardless of gender. These rights include the right to live free from discrimination and violence, the right to education, the right to property, the right to vote, the right to work, the right to be part of decision-making, and all other rights that belong to everyone of us. However, globally, women still do not have equal rights with men. Even countries that have taken different measures in the effort for gender equality still face different challenges. But the struggle for equality is long and to get here where we are, there have been many sacrifices. Many movements and uprisings have influenced these rights to be enjoyed by many women around the world today. In this course you will have the opportunity to get acquainted with feminism, as well as to learn about the first world movements for gender equality and their achievements.
